First Bolt Action game with my figures

Played my second game last night, my first using my Germans. I haven’t finished painting them yet but they are getting there.

Anyway 700 points Top Secret
My Force was entirely Vets
CO 2nd Lt and Extra man
2 squads of 5 men with rifles and one LMG
2 squads of 5 men with rifles 2 SMG and 1 Panzerfaust
1 MMG (which I forgot to deploy)
1 Sniper
1 Flame thrower
1 Panzershreck

Jon had a mix of Vets and Regs
CO 2nd Lt
2 Vet squads of 6 men with rifles and 2 SMG
1 Reg squad of 6 men with rifles and 2 SMG
1 sniper Vet
1 PIAT (can’t remember rating)
1 Sherman Reg
1 Halftrack  Reg
Free FO

We had a stream winding its way across the table there were two bridges and a couple of Fords. The Secret item had been dropped in the stream.

There were the outskirts of a large village at one end of the table, walled fields at the other with a small olive grove on the side that had less buildings.

Having most of the buildings on my side my troops raced to secure good firing positions (the MMG would have been nice here).  Jon started a tentative advance towards the objective with two squads of grunts (one reg) and the Halftrack. His Sherman, CO and PIAT all failed to arrive first turn. He pushed his sniper up along the wall on the field side and sent a veteran squad through the town to flank me. I countered these by sending an LMG squad sniper hunting and an SMG squad to cover my flank.

Jon pressed on with the Haltrack to try to slow down my advance on the objective. It was feeling brave because the Sherman had come on behind it. It did manage to kill one member of an Assault squad by the bridge. My Panzershreck  manged to Shake the halftrack crew. A LMG squad and sniper took up position  in buildings and managed to put some pins on a veteran platoon advancing along the river bank. The assault squad by the bridge ignored the half track and entered the stream hiding under the bridge.

The next couple of turns saw some frantic action were Jons flanking paras misjudged there distance to my flanking assault squad and charged me from out side 6 inches. He lost four men in defensive fire survived his morale test and we fought a similtanous round of combat as I was defending a building. I killed his two remaining Paras he killed one of my grunts. The half track was destroyed by the Flame thrower which ran out of juice. Jons sniper lost his spotter. His Veteran squad near the objective got wiped out. My assault squad made it to the objective with two men the Panzerfaust missed the Sherman, but they got killed at the start of the next turn as Jon pulled the first action. My CO went to the objective at the end of turn 4 he shot and killed jons CO and his lackies PF missed the Sherman.

Turn five saw the Sherman assault my CO and kill him thus getting the Objective for Jon (we could not find any rules for tanks bogging?)

The rest of the game saw me Kill the remainder of Jons Infantry so all he had left was the Sherman. I had a couple of panzershreck shots at it and managed to shake the crew. But I couldn’t kill it. Jon didn’t have the movement to get off the table so the game was a draw.

Jon had lost everything but his Sherman and I had lost 8 men including my CO
